Happy Holidays everyone!

You know what I'd really like for Christmas? Renew my faith in humanity. Donate a toy to one of those drives, plant a tree, spend some time at an animal shelter--just do something for whatever your pet cause may be and then come tell me about it. Please?

And the rest of the list

2. Recs: books (Currently looking for good fantasy), music, fic (Potterverse slash, Master & Commander gen, Narnia anything).

3. A prettiful new layout for my journal.

4. Kiss from that someone special underneath the mistletoe.

5. Postcards. I'm trying to cover my very ugly walls with them. The stranger the better-current favorite is of the Corn Palace.

6. SNOW!

7. A copy of A Feast for Crows :)

8. A cute pair of earrings.

9. More LJ friends!

I'm always up for more LJ friends, and every year I donate either toys or time to the homeless/woman's shelter to help with their Christmas festivities. I have for about 4 years now.

I love where I work because we always have a big donation drive in December - this year we are giving to Toys for Tots, Angel Tree, a local nursing home, a food drive, a hat, mitten and scarf drive, and sending Christmas cards to the troops. That's all just in December - we have a yearly drive for money and supplies for the local SPCA, we have food drive in July, all kinds of stuff.

My boyfriend and I are doing Operation Santa Claus this year. We recieved two letters written by poor children to "Santa" as to what they wanted for Christmas. We purchase one (actually we're going to do two) of their wishes and send it back to their school. The cover letter from their school said that these would quite possibly be the only Christmas presents they recieve all year. It's both very touching and very sad.

On a happier note, if you want a postcard sent your way, just email me your addy (wonderlandkat@hotmail.com)

I can send you a postcard if you email your address to crystal@mrpuppy.net

I don't know if you've heard of the site postcardx.net It was a random act of postcard kindness site that ran for a couple years, then it took a nap this summer. But just recently the creator says it is waking up again. I've gotten many neat postcards from the site, even while it was down. =)

Thank you. That's my Galileo!

For your wish #1 I will be helping distribute toys for a local charity. It is set up in such a way that the volunteers basically take the parent(s) shopping through a selection of new toys- that way they can pick out something super special. Then we head to the back and add appropriate used toys to the bag. I love doing it!

#2. Have you tried Stephen King's Dark Tower series? Hard to stick in just one category (sci fi, fantasy, horror, adventure). Or for a little more straight up SK fantasy, try "The Eyes of the Dragon."

I spent part of today helping set up the "Santa's Village" run by my college, which donates food and toys to seven local service groups. They're also collecting signatures and messages to send to overseas troops. If I have time, I'll be volunteering there again Monday.

Read about it here (http://www.utm.edu/admin/univrel/newsitems3.html). :)

Oh, and I purchased three gifts so far from www.gearthatgives.com, which resulted in the donation of 56 bowls of food to animal shelters nationwide.

I was getting long, so I stopped there, but if it means anything to you, I also volunteer at my local animal shelter (all year long) and have for the past two years.

Oh, and I did donate a can of chili to a food drive. :) ::laughs:: I'm a college student--it was the only canned item I had in my dorm.
