[identity profile] empressjad.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] holidaywishes
I had a lot of fun last year granting a ton of wishes, and I hope to do some of the same in 2008! Since it's now December, and it's currently snowing here, I guess I can post a holiday wishlist....
1) we run a small independent cat/kitten rescue that is always no-kill(read:NO funding...it's all out of our own pockets) but we've placed more than 260 animals in the past 2 years. There is *always* something we need, so gift cards to PetSmart, Petco, or even WalMart would be wonderful, as would any monetary donations. Most of our animals are with us because they have literally NO OTHER PLACE TO GO.
2) donations to our vet to help with our ongoing veterinary bills. They're always high, as the first thing we do is take an animal to the vet and have their medical needs tended to, and have them spayed/neutered
3) have your own pet spayed/neutered...there are SO many homeless animals
4) adopt an animal from a shelter, or volunteer your time...those ASPCA commercials with Sarah Maclaughlin aren't exaggerated
5) someone to walk me through setting up a more professional looking blog for the shelter
6) anything relating to the Eiffel Tower/Paris (I lived there for a bit, and miss it
7) candles, oils, diffusers etc. for home scenting, particularly spicy, dark scents like amber, sandalwood, clove, etc.
8) handmade oils/body lotions/shower gels/soaps in the above fragrances
9) small cat toys/pet beds/mini-afghans, especially made by you
10 tea blooms...I've become addicted to them, they're so beautiful...or unusual teas that you like. After a day changing litterboxes, brushing 30+ cats, being a giant cat toy...I need to relax

Just ask for an address...

Hey, I recognize you...from...CraftGrrl?...Cooking? Ahh well, eniways...

'Fraid I can't help with the rest, at the moment (I have volunteered for animal shelters and rescues in the past), but for a random sort-of-happy note, we have always adopted from shelters, always encouraged those we know to do so, and always will.

Hi there, first off can I just say what you're doing is so amazing :) I study animal care and work for dog kennels (and volenteered in the SSPCA here - I live in Scotland) and to be able to do that yourself must be very rewarding.
Do you mind if I add you as a friend?

I'm not from America so I don't think I could help with getting you giftcards or anything, but I'd love to possibly send you some toys or the like. Could I have your address please?

We recently rescued a kitten (a feral baby who took shelter on our porch when it was raining and got lured inside) and he's got a fateful meeting with the vet in February. It's awesome that you take such good care of previously-unwanted pets; every time the kitten (Ibn (http://photos-e.ak.fbcdn.net/photos-ak-snc1/v378/217/85/663151007/n663151007_1491836_608.jpg)) lets me pick him up, I can still feel every bone in his body and it makes me want to cry....

Who's hosting your blog now?

I rescued a kitten in September. He's since been deflea'd, dewormed, de-ear-mited, and de-balled (haha) as well as vaccinated and fattened up. He looks so much better than when we found him running around in traffic. We tried to bring him to a shelter/rescue but no one would take him because they were "full." There also aren't any resources in the area for vet things for people who find strays, so all his medical care came out of pocket. My other two cats were also strays.

I'd be happy to send you some kitteh things -- but it probably wouldn't be feasable until after the holidays cause I'm a bit backed up on projects at the moment! Send me your address to megatarian(at)gmail(dot)com. Just put kitty things in the msg somewhere.

Thanks for all you do for the kitties. I work with a feral cat rescue at my university, which is lucky enough to have an endowment from the Summerlee Foundation. You can find out more at http://www.smu.edu/cats

I do make handmade soap, and I'd love to send you something. It might not make it out until after the 25th, but if that's OK, drop me a line at dakotawitch @ gmail dot com with "Holiday Wishes: Soap" in the subject and your addy in the body. Also remind me of the scents you like.
