MODS, Fixed!
Dec. 3rd, 2008 02:55 amNew to this community, pointed here by . I Like the idea of being able to (possibly) grant some wishes, and maybe have a few of my own granted. I'm Reese, 27, living outside of Philadelphia. I have a husband, a 6 year old son, and a whole zoo of animals (4 cats, 2 mice, 2 fire bellied toads, a red eared slider and a ton of fish).
Question: When granting someone's wish, are you supposed to let them know who did it, or keep it secret? Thanks!!!
My wish list, most of which was pretty much copied and pasted from my personal LJ with a few things changed that have already been granted <3
1)Food and time donations to your local NO KILL animal Shelters
2) Spend 5 minutes each day on www.freerice.com
3) Give to http://www.childrenshungerfund.org --- as far as I've read, 100% goes to helping children.
4) Give donations of time or food to your local food bank/thrift shop that gives it's revenue to a local church or charity
5) If you knit or crochet, http://www.lionbrand.com/charityConnection.html find a charity to donate your goods to
and now that I've been charitable, I am okay with being a bit selfish
6) I would love some beautiful hand dyed yarns, or any yarn really. Anything in that area, new circular needles (the bigger, the better!), awesome stitch markers, or any patterns you have.
7) Books, including: "Eat this, not that", "Knitting Little Luxuries: Beautiful Accessories to Knit", " 101 Designer One-Skein Wonders: A world of possibilities inspired by just one skein",
" Horizons: New Vegan Cuisine"," Christina Cooks: Everything You Always Wanted to Know About Whole Foods But Were Afraid to Ask" and anything else that might be of interest to me.
8) I would love a collection of your favorite recipes, any kind.
9) Board games! Esp trivia or word games. I love to go to flea markets and the like and find old wacky board games.
10) A year's paid subscription to either LJ, Netflix, Bust, Entertainment Weekly, Nylon, Alarm, Creative Knitting, Martha Stewart Living, Bon Appetit, or American Photo
I'm obviously not going to post my address in a public post, but if you want it email me at xreesex@gmail.com. Though, honestly, just doing any of the first five would make me happy.

Date: 2008-12-04 01:17 am (UTC)Deep Chocolate Winter Mint Lava Cake Recipe
These cakes are slightly underbaked so that the chocolate center oozes when cut into.
Servings: Makes 6.
Sauce
4 1/2 ounces bittersweet (not unsweetened) or semisweet chocolate, chopped
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped
1/3 cup hot water
1/4 cup light corn syrup
3/4 teaspoon peppermint extract
Cakes
5 ounces bittersweet (not unsweetened) or semisweet chocolate, chopped
10 tablespoons (1 1/4 sticks) unsalted butter
3 large eggs
3 large egg yolks
1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
Vanilla ice cream
Preperation
For sauce: Stir both chocolates in top of double boiler over barely simmering water until melted. Add 1/3 cup hot water, corn syrup and extract; whisk until smooth. Remove from over water. Cool slightly. (Can be made 2 days ahead. Cover; chill. Before serving, rewarm in saucepan over low heat, stirring constantly.)
For cakes: Preheat oven to 450?F. Butter six 3/4-cup souffle dishes or custard cups. Stir chocolate and butter in heavy medium saucepan over low heat until melted. Cool slightly. Whisk eggs and egg yolks in large bowl to blend. Whisk in sugar, then chocolate mixture and flour. Pour batter into dishes, dividing equally. (Can be made 1 day ahead. Cover; chill.)
Bake cakes until sides are set but center remains soft and runny, about 11 minutes or up to 14 minutes for batter that was refrigerated. Run small knife around cakes to loosen. Immediately turn cakes out onto plates. Spoon sauce around cakes. Serve with ice cream.

Date: 2008-12-05 11:53 pm (UTC)I was going through the lists over at Holiday_Wishes and something you asked for caught my eye.
Could you please email me at smallwaldo at gmail dot com and send me a snail mail address?
(and also, because I'm a huge flake, could you please put your LJ name and/or a link back to your list in the same email so I'm sure to match up the right list with the address. Thanks!)
