Holiday Wishes for me
Dec. 3rd, 2008 02:34 pmHello! I'm Rain, a 35 year old female in Pennsylvania! This is my third year participating (a statement that reminds me of an AA meeting) and I've been very good this year. I've sent out many a present from this community so far. I'm hoping to get a few of my wishes granted, too. Please and thank you.
My list of Tangible Gimme Gimmes:
1) An animated icon of my comic strip character. I draw a comic (called "Art fumes") and I would just love a little animated avatar of Rain, Lorin, Sunflower or any of them. :) Mostly Rain, though, since she is the main character. Make the character smile, cross their eyes, stick out their tongue, do a little dance... whatever. (Please ask for link. Don't want it to get spammed, thanks.)
2) Crochet stuff. One can never have enough hooks, patterns, books, yarn, stitch markers, icons, yadda yadda. Especially when you're clumsy, lose things, and/or break things like me. I am so much the klutz. I would like anything, really, having to do with crochet.
3) Maneki Neko/ Beckoning Cat items. Maneki Neko is a little cat from Asian (Chinese and Japanese from what little I've read) who brings good luck. (For those not in the know, here's a wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maneki_neko) Any shape, size, color. Can be fabric, paper, statues, banks (I have a bank that looks exactly like the first picture on the wiki article! how neat!), clothes, pens, whatever. I love the little kitty.
4) Mystery Science Theater 3000 stuff. DVDS, VHS, postcards, t-shirts, stickers, etc etc. I will ask that, since I am on dial up, I cannot watch items from your website or youtube. It takes longer for something to load than to watch. :S I appreciate your efforts, though.
5) Key Rings. I may already have a bazillion of key rings but I love them. Any key ring will be used. (I hang them on my purses and jackets to use as zipper pulls.) The ring can have anything on it so long as I can use it in public. So, key rings from tourist traps, car dealerships, Sanrio (they produce Hello Kitty) or other cartoon characters, whatever, yeah, I'd like that. (Hey! I'm naturally blonde and easily amused!)
6) Books. I love to read books on history (especially the World Wars and US Civil War), medicine, true ghost stories, true crime/forensics, legends, mythologies, etc. I could also use books on drawing the human figure since I do draw a comic strip. :)
7) Music. A mix CD of anything. I don't really care for modern country, speed metal or rap. However, anything else is pretty much cool. Punk, jazz, smooth jazz, metal, Dr. Demento (comedy) stuff, rock from the 50-80s, rockabilly, soul, mo-town from the 60-80s, new wave, new age, hillbilly, bluegrass, classic rock, etc.
The Be Nice Gimme Gimmes:
8) Take a stand against domestic violence. On December 26, 2001, my mom and her sister were killed by my mom's boyfriend. Mom was trying to break up with him and he killed her and my aunt. My wish is that no one else ever have to lose a loved one in this manner. If you are being abused, get out. Also, please be aware that not all victims of domestic violence are women; there are often children who get beat by the abuser. Don't forget that men can be beat up just as easily as a female. So, if you are suffering, please reach out for help. Don't force your children to deal with what I did.
9) Get a fake tree. Yes, they don't smell like pine and they look kind of lame. However, with the Earth on the verge of crisis, do you really need to cut down a tree just so you can stick it in your living room, put baubles on it, and then throw it away. How wasteful! If you HAVE to have a real tree, get one that you can plant in the spring.
I guess that's it. Thanks to everyone who reads this. Even if you don't give to me, at least you can give to someone else.
May you enjoy a peaceful and happy holiday season.
