[identity profile] rubicat.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] holidaywishes
I have been able to grant a few wishes in the past, and I hope I can grant some more this year. I am 38, and I live in Boston with my husband and three cats. This winter, we're also providing a temporary crash space for a friend and his pets - a scruffy pup and a cat. I am a freelance graphic designer and photographer, and I am very thankful that I have some paying projects right now. I've had some bad luck this year, but I'm optimistic that the economy can't suck for too much longer! :)

My wishes:

1. If you are going to Amazon for any holiday (or year-round, for that matter), please use my links. I get referral credits for people who click-through to Amazon through my link, which adds up to a nice gift certificate each quarter. Last year the Holiday Wish list gave me $60, which bought a photography book and socks. :)

Go to Amazon.com using this link!

(This link is also on my LiveJournal and my website.)

2. I would like to have a helpful Flash tutorial, or someone's notes on learning Flash. If you happen to have taken a workshop, or have some sort of helpful materials on Flash, I'd love to borrow them!

3. Help for my friend.
The original post (and a PayPal donation button) are in this post, but here's the gist: a friend of mine has been diagnosed with Meniere's Disease, which causes huge fits of disorientation. She lost her job, and her ex husband has been unable to pay child support. She is trying hard to pay the mortgage, much less buy holiday gifts for her two daughters. If you are able to help with ANYTHING on this list, please let me know.

Tabi is 17, and a senior in high school.
jeans, juniors size 2/3
Shirts, medium
Shoes, size 8
Items for college (backpack, school supplies, etc)

Maggie is 8, and loves school.
Girls' jeans size 7/8
Shirts L or 10/12
Shoes, size 1
likes High School Musical and Hanna Montana
Hoping for a bike for Christmas

Teresa, their mother, could use Wal-Mart, Bi-Lo and Target giftcards
for necessities and school supplies.

4. I love cats and the colour red. :)

5. If you know anyone who has a guinea pig, or who loves guinea pigs, please tell him or her about my site, cavymadness.com. It's a great site for beginners, and I also have a gift shop. Of course, I would LOVE it if people bought CavyCozies this holiday for their guinea pigs, rats, bunnies, or other small animals, but if the site helps some people learn how to properly care for their piggies, then I've done my job. :)

6. Donate to charity. Even if money's tight for you, you likely have some clothes in your closet or some stuff laying about that can go to Goodwill, right?

7. Tea. I'll trade tea with anyone! I have put together some green and white teas for a person in Turkey, who sent me some strong black tea. OMG it was yummy. I love black teas. I also love cocoa.

8. My mother is coming to Boston for Christmas. We're going to New York to visit a friend for a few days. If you are a New Yorker and have any insider info on cool Christmas displays or events that are cheap or free, please pass them my way!

9. I need socks. I wear clogs, so I need chunky, wooly socks. (And if YOU need socks, I highly recommend sockdreams.com!)

10. Work. I'm hoping to pick up some interesting projects, so if you know a business who needs website or print design, please pass me along. My site is rubicat.com, and design services can be provided easily online - I have clients I've never met! :)

My address, since I'm a business and it's online anyway:

Re #8, the Bergdorf Goodman windows are amazing this year! And this fashion show (http://www.fitnyc.edu/aspx/Content.aspx?menu=FutureGlobal:Museum:Exhibitions) is free and fun, if you think you'd be into it.

If you're interested in awesome places to eat while in NYC, I'd be happy to steer you in the right direction. Also, I can give you a couple tea samples - just tell me what kind of tea you'd prefer. I blend tea. I'll need your address. ;)

I have a bag of clothes that will be going to a Goodwill-like local store. :) One of these days when I'm not super busy.

Okay, I know this is going to sound weird, but it turns out I'm allergic to a tea I tried today. It gave me hallucinations (long story short, I'm prone to them, but the tea induced one...apparently I'm allergic to the combinations of the ingredients.) It's Twinings "Herbal Unwind": A comforting blend with African Honeybush and the flavours of mandarin and orange. Decaf. I used two teabags, meaning that there are 18 individually wrapped teabags left. You mentioned you are looking for teas. Turns out you're the first person I've seen tonight looking for tea, so you get the offer. E-mail me at poeticgoddss@hotmail.com if you'd like to take it off my hands. Thanks so much. (It tastes great, by the way...wish I wasn't allergic.)

Your site has been so much fun to look at -- I found it a while back when I got my two guineas, and it's been a good resource. Thanks for maintaining it!

One of my favorite things to do in ny that you shouldn't miss is visit the metropolitan museum of art. You can spend a whole day looking at the gorgeous pieces and although the sign says adults are ten dollars, tourists don't usually realize this is a suggested donation. You can get in for a nickel.
