Dec. 6th, 2004 12:23 amSo, I changed my mind. But there's only five, 'cause I didn't want to be greedy.
1. I drive a lot for work, and the radio doesn't always rock as hard as I'd like. I would adore mix CDs, tapes, or mp3s of favorite songs. Whatever you've got that you love to drive to, send it my way so I have new stuff to listen to. Up-tempo is good, and I'm not a huge fan of country or rap, but if you dig it, I'll dig it too. Send files or internet links to chickwithmonkey [at] gmail [dot] com. Mail CDs or tapes to R. Derrick, 505 S Busey #502, Urbana, IL, 61801.
2. My mom is a teacher, and her school collects these. If you ever buy General Mills brand products (Betty Crocker, Totino's, Pillsbury, etc), look for the little box top logo (like the one at the top corner of this page), clip it out, and send it to me. I love handing my mom a stack of box tops to take to school; she gets cookies and treats from the cafeteria, just like the kids do when they bring the stuff in. Again, send these to R. Derrick, 505 S Busey #502, Urbana, IL, 61801, and I'll take them home to my mom.
3. You, reading this. Yeah, you. Okay, right now (or whenever it's convenient), set a timer or clock or watch or sundial or something for thirty minutes. Got that? Now, for the next thirty minutes, do something that makes you happy. Read comic books, look at pictures of Italy, lay on your bed and do nothing, but do something you totally enjoy for about half an hour. And here's the hard part: feel no guilt. This is a gift from you to me. I can't do anything to make you happy that you can't do yourself, so for me, do something for you. That will be the best holiday gift ever.
4. Donate to the Gregory Shane Fibromyalgia Fund, the Fibromyalgia Book Fund, or the Fibromyalgia Treatment Center Research Fund. There's no cure, and the treatments can be as bad as the disease. Hug gently, hug lots. I want to be able to hug my daddy for a long long time.
5. Legolas.
I will fulfill as many wishes as I can, but most likely I'll just send postcards to as many addresses as I find on the community. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is tired and broke.
