Dec. 8th, 2008 06:00 pmHullo. This is my first year posting a list to this community, but I've already been enjoying granting other people's wishes. I'm 17, and from near London, and I'm a sixth form student who takes on far too much (and yet still has time to be bored, go figure).
My wishlist, in no particular order:
1. Photographs. (Basically anything, pretty nature, something peculiar, the view out your bedroom window, favourite things, etc.)
2. Writing or art. Original or fandom-based, it's all good.
3. Home made stuff. I'm a total sucker for it. I love stuff that's been made by hand, I don't know why (maybe because I enjoy making things myself), but it seems to make me ridiculously happy.
4. New icons for my LJ/MSN/Forums/etc. Because mine are lacking.
5. "Oddments and Trinkets", ie. random trivial things that will interest/amuse me. I'm very easily amused, and little strange things that are found are always great fun.
6. Poetry. I love poetry. The way to win my heart is with poetry. I'm not amazingly fussed over types - if something's good, it's good.
7. Interesting socks. (My feet are on the bigger end of small - Eng. size = 3/5ish)
8. Letters. There's something exciting about post. (I generally will reply, unless I'm instructed not to/I'm not sent a return address.)
9. T-shirts from www.thinkgeek.com (Men's size = M, but could wear S.)
10. World peace, to get As in all my classes, to change the world overnight, more hours in the day, etc., etc. Or to donate or fundraise for Woodlarks (A campsite for disabled people that I volunteer for) - see www.woodlarks.org.uk
My e-mail is ejcod[at]hotmail[dot]com, if you would like my address.

Date: 2008-12-09 08:24 am (UTC)I really like some of William Carlos Williams stuff lately, along with this poem entitled "Taking off Emily Dickinson's Clothes" just because of the silly nature of it. I could probably come up with some more if I had my books in front of me.

Date: 2008-12-09 04:37 pm (UTC)Also AR Ammons 'Pet Panther'
Langston Hughes- 'Harlem' and 'A Theme for English B'
T.S Eliot - 'The Love Song of J Alfred Prufrock;
Yeats- 'When you are old' and 'Adam's curse'
If you can get your hands on a Norton Anthology of Poetry (any version- I know the older ones that aren't used in schools anymore can be pretty cheap) then that should give you a good overview of all sorts of poetry :)

Date: 2008-12-09 05:48 pm (UTC)My lady can sleep
Upon a handkerchief
Or if it be Fall
Upon a fallen leaf
I have seen the hunters
Kneel before her hem
Even in her sleep
She turns away from them
The only gift they offer
Is their abiding grief
I pull out my pockets
For a handkerchief or leaf
- Leonard Cohen
