Dec. 10th, 2008 08:40 pmHello, Holiday Wishes community! My name is Lindsey, and I'm a 17 year old girl from Upstate New York, USA. I'm in my senior year of high school, and currently my time is divided between looking for colleges and scholarships, while at the same time trying to actually pass this year, haha.:) I thought participating in this community would take a little stress off. I plan on majoring in international relations and foreign languages, so you'll notice that a lot of my wishlist is centered on things that are foreign. Without further adieu, here is my wishlist!
1. |Russian Language Learning Books| Currently, I'm taking Chinese and Spanish in school, and I've been studying Russian independently. But it's difficult for me to really retain anything if I don't learn it from a textbook. If a textbook is too much, I will happily take any old Russian newspapers, books, dictionaries, even candy wrappers....anything with Russian writing. :)
2. |Vegetarian Cookbooks or Books| Last month, I made the switch to vegetarianism, and I honestly think it was one of the best decisions of my life. But as a new vegetarian, I'm still learning how to eat healthily and exploring all the culinary possibilities available to me. I would love to receive any vegetarian cookbooks, recipes, or books about vegetarianism in general.
3. |Books About Buddhism| I've found that I'm very, very inspired by Buddhism, or at least what I know of it, and I would love to learn more.
4. |Buddhist Prayer Beads| This ties in with number three. Buddhist prayer beads are very intriguing and beautiful to me, and I would love to own some.
5. |A Good Jump Rope| Come January, I'll be taking up boxing, and it occurred to me that I don't own a jump rope!
6. |Your Favorite Song| I'm talking about your favorite song, the one that changed your life, the one that you couldn't live without, the one you want to die listening to, the one so exquisitely rendered that you can't even comprehend how a human being made it. Give me your best!
7. |Any Music by Jonah Matranga| This would include the music he made in Far, New End Original, Gratitude, and as a solo artist. I'm not sure how obscure this one might be, but I've recently become obsessed with a song he made, and I can't find his music anywhere. I will gladly accept any form it comes in - mp3, CD, anything. :)
8. |Travel Books!| Any travel book from anywhere!!! I aspire to be a world traveler.
9. |World Music| Again, I will gladly accept any form it comes in. I am particularly interested in traditional Chinese music, Irish/Celtic music, and Spanish- and Russian- language music. But don't let that stop you - I will take any and all music.
10. |Travel Journal/Sketchbook| I write and draw like crazy, and I go through a billion sketchbooks a year. It might seem naive, but I’m very hopeful, and very sure, that I’ll be traveling soon. I’d really love a new journal/sketchbook!
My email is jolieholland@yahoo.com! I don’t want to post my home address here, so please acquire my addy through there. :)
Thank you, thank you, thank you to anyone who takes the time to read my wishlist, and even more thanks to those who will try and fulfill some of my wishes! Please, feel free to leave links to your wishlists in the comments as well. :)

Date: 2008-12-12 08:03 pm (UTC)Right now the one song that I have grasped on to, and that has really made clear of who I am as a person this year, is "Long Nights" by Eddie Vedder from the Into the Wild soundtrack.
For the holidays, it is always the song "A Winter's Night" sung by Sarah McLachlan.
