Phantoms, books, and music, hooray!
Dec. 11th, 2008 08:36 pmHey there guys! Merry Early Christmas! (Or other holiday of your choosing!) I’m a 20-year-old college student (currently music ed, but there have been thoughts of change). I’ve done this twice before, and it’s such a great time. Unfortunately, I waited so long this year that most of the stuff I might send may not make it on time, oh noes! But better late than never.
Anyways, on to the list! They’re in no particular order. Also, if you leave a comment, include a link to your own wishlist so I can take a look. (:
1. The Phantom of the Opera with Lon Chaney. The 1925 silent version. I had it on DVD, but the disc was well and thoroughly destroyed. Another copy would make my day! ETA: There are apparently at least two versions of the movie. The one I had had no speaking, but there was music. I only know that it starts with Schubert's Unfinished Symphony, and uses it at least once more. There is also cheerful piano music, go figure.
2. Snail mail! Whether it’s a card or a postcard or a letter, whether you want to be pen pals or just send the once, I don’t care! I love me some mail!
3. Yarn scraps. Do you knit or crochet and have random bits of yarn left over? Or you bought some and then realized you actually hated it? My yarn box is open and hoping and waiting! (I’m making a rather ginormous scrap blanket for my sister and can use all the yarn I can get.) Any kind, be it plain or neon and furry, is more than welcome!
4. Books. I’m a big reader, so if you’ve got any lying around that you don’t want anymore, I am happy to take them off you hands and shelves. I read a lot of fantasy and chick-lit, but I want to branch out some more. Also, just recommendations work, if you can’t part with your darlings. I can give you a larger list of stuff I've read, if you like.
5. Wal-Mart gift cards. Groceries, clothes, shoes, and toiletries tend to be bought there, so any cards would be spent well. (: A college girl can hope.
6. Gaia Online stuffs. I admit, I kind of stole this from someone else. I have a ginormous Wishlist on there, plus I’m planning to start a charity soon, so anything you might have lying around would be dearly loved. I’m silentxphantom on there, and make sure to tell me that you’re from here. :D
7. Thoughts from book editors. Are you a book editor? What would you say to someone interested in the field? What’s your life and job like? Anything you’d have to say would be awesome!
8. Mix CDs! The are made of win! I can do the mp3s, but I prefer regular CDs. I like just about everything, excluding (most) rap, smooth jazz, and metal whose words don’t even resemble words. So toss some of you favorite music onto a CD and send it on over! It’s guaranteed to be enjoyed.
9. Stationary, etc. Sets or just a few sheets of cute paper, anything like that. As I sort of mentioned before, I do the pen pal thing and enjoy getting to use interesting paper and cards.
10. Do something nice for someone. You know how to do this one, I hope. If you want, you can tell me what you did, I’d enjoy hearing it, but you don’t have to.
Oh, and have a great holiday!
Okay, so I’m feeling a little paranoid tonight, so I’m only putting my email for now. Email for my address, but specify which you’d need. There are three to choose from, aren’t I special?
My mailbox can get letters and such and perhaps very thin packages, but I wouldn’t trust it for that. The office is where you can send packages at school. It's probably too late for this, if you want me to get it before Jan. 12. If, however, you don't think it'll get here until around then, I'll be happy to send that address. Both of these will be checked until December 19, before I go home for break. My house accepts both letters and packages, although my parents occasionally forget to tell me if I wasn’t home. This is probably the safest bet if you don’t know how long it’ll take to get there.
