Dec. 11th, 2008 08:53 pmA five and twenty college student. Trying to make it in the field of arts. Gasp!? Poor and struggling. Go figure, eh? Ah well. At least I'm doing what it is that I love. I'm not asking for anything new this year, in fact my whole family is doing a white elephant gift exchange for gifts since we all have been hit pretty hard by layoffs and cut backs. Stupid economy. Mumble mumble. What I am kind of looking for are as follows.
01. Junk! Old keys, dolls, doll parts, tarot cards, paper dolls anything and everything that you think that a crafter would adore. I've been going to thrift stores trying to find things, but alas not many here have what I'm looking for.
02. Old books. New/er books. Books books books. I'm working on extending my library of sorts. Branching out of science fiction and horror to anything of interest. Got a favorite book? Wanna send it my way? With a dedication. I adore old things. See gift idea number one.
03. Quotes. Famous quotes. Or some of your own nice and tucked away on paper.
04. Unfinished artwork. Ya!
05. Mix cds filled with favorite songs with a letter attached telling me why you adore them. I like to get to know more about the human condition since I spend so much of my time off on the sidelines. ( Antisocial and all. )
06. SNAIL MAIL! Something other then bills or junk would be cool. Homemade holiday cards, postcards, anything. I write back more often then not.
07. Advise. Words of wisdom.

Date: 2008-12-25 03:12 am (UTC)3. Quotes:
"Voici mon secret. Il est très simple: on ne voit bien qu'avec le cœur. L'essentiel est invisible pour les yeux." - Le Petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry
(English translation: "And now here is my secret, a very simple secret: It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.")
"The Universe puts us in places where we can learn. They are never easy places, but they are right. Wherever we are, it's the right place .. and the right time. Pain that sometimes comes is part of the process of constantly being born."
- Delenn, Babylon 5: "A Distant Star"
"The past is the beginning of the beginning and all that is and has been is but the twilight of the dawn." - H. G. Wells
"You know, I used to think it was awful that life was so unfair. Then I thought, wouldn't it be much worse if life were fair and all the terrible things that happen to us come because we actually deserve them. So now I take great comfort in the general hostility and unfairness of the universe." - Marcus Cole, Babylon 5: "A Late Delivery from Avalon"
"Or what? You'll release the dogs? Or the bees? Or the dogs with bees in their mouth and when they bark they shoot bees at you?" - Homer Simpson
7. Advice:
+ Laughter is one of the best things in life. Also, warm socks. ;)
+ It is okay to fall down, as long as you get up again. The act of getting up again may take a while, but just keep yourself aimed in the right direction.
+ Keep yourself hydrated.
+ Listen. Really listen.
+ Work hard, but remember to play.
