Hi! My name is Kai, I'm a 19-year-old college kid from Northern Virginia, and this is my third year participating!  Things are really tight money-wise right now(my dad's been out of work for almost a year), but I can grant wishes involving mail, crafty stuff, and stuff I've got lying around the house. 

My wishes:

1. A Job for My Dad
I know this is a crazy longshot, but my dad's been out of work since January, and any leads/open positions that need filling would be the greatest gift you could give my family.  He's workied in telecommunications for over 25 years, for companies such as British Telecom, Concert, MCI, and Verisign as a Project Manager/Customer Service guy.  We live in Northern Virginia, so anything in the D.C. Metro area works.  I can e-mail you his resume if you think you might be able to help him out, or if you have a friend/relative/neighbor who might be able to.  
 
2. Mix CDs/Burned copies of CDs from local bands in your area 
 I always ask for these, and I've never gotten one--maybe this will be the year!  I have crazy taste in music, and like almost everything.  I LOVE mixes, especially when they introduce me to bands I've never heard of.  

3. Knitting supplies 
I'm still sort of a beginning knitter(I can knit, purl, rib, increase and decrease), and would love anything knitting-related.  Left-over yarn from a project, stitch markers, needles you no longer use, patterns for beginners, anything would be awesome.  I'd especially love to have a pair of circular bamboo needles in any size.

4. Icons
I'm a big fan of icons with text, and would love some with my favorite quotes/lyrics on them.

5. Earrings
I've just gotten back into wearing earrings, and I'd love some ones to add to my measly four pairs!  Studs or Dangly earrings would make my ears happy!  If you shop at Claire's, they usually have earrings on clearance for like $2, so you wouldn't have to spend much.  Any color/design is fine.  If you make earrings, that would be SO cool.

6. A Concert Buddy
I hate going to shows alone, but during the school year most of my friends are out of town, and I hate going to concerts alone.  I'm in the DC metro area, so there's always concerts going on. 

7. A pen-pal who is a rabbit(the rabbit's person can write for him/her) , for my mom's first-grade class rabbit, Thumper Thumper recently lost his cagemate/bonded partner Patches, and the kids would get a kick out of Thumper getting letters from another bunny, and helping him write letters back. 

8. Hair clips/bands I recently cut 11 inches off my hair off, and now that it's shorter, I love having it half-way/fully up and out of my face

9. Personalized Anything My name is Kai, and of course nothing has my name on it.  Even if it's just a necklace with alphabet beads, it would make my life.

10. Surprise me!

also.. if you look on my Lj back.. umm. maybe a month? i had a "job seeking post" where my friends posted if they were looking , or knew of jobs... post your dads basic info there. also keep an eye out because i do that every few months.

This is Jake's Blues. Apparently they were on tour when this was shot. I'm not sure who he's playing with, but that's Jake Banta on lead guitar and vocals. The band has three CDs, which you can probably find on eBay (they're not available new right now): First Time Out, Gypsy King, and Livin' at the Crossroads.

I can do number 3. I have a huge ottoman that opens up and inside is all sorts of leftover yarn, knitting stuff etc. I started knitting a few years aog, but realized that I'm much better @ crocheting, and I don't really enjoy knitting as much. So it's just sitting there waiting for a home.

Also, number 7. I don't have a rabbit, but I have a very frisky kitty that wouldn't mind a rabbit penpal/or email pal. Plus, I work with kids too and I think it might be fun if they got to see letters from a rabbit to my kitty.
