Dec. 12th, 2008 10:32 pmHi, I'm Mia. I'm 17, a Torontonian and this is the first time I'm doing this.
Email me at miacallisto at gmail dot com or pm me for my address.
Thank you!
- My grandmother is really sick so please have your fingers crossed for her. And I mom would really like to go see her so keep your fingers crossed that it all works out and she can go and visit her :)
- RECS! I would loooove recs for books, music, movies (+ foreign movies with subs), tv shows (UK/US), anime/manga, Asian dramas/variety shows (that have subs) etc. Anything you think is really awesome and feel the need to spread the love, go ahead and rec it to me and I'll totally check it out.
- This ones related to #2. I would love some home burned dvds/cds of tv shows, movies, anime (dubs only no matter how bad a fan that makes me xD), comics, manga, Asian dramas/variety shows. I have a list of stuff I want to watch/rewatch and downloading takes forever and a lot of space so this would be really really awesome.
- Used books. Recently, I've been really into YA novels and fantasy/supernatural stuff. I also fell in love with Kazuo Ishiguro and now he's pretty much my favourite author and Never Let Me Go is my favourite book. I own 3 of his books (Never Let Me Go, When We Were Orphans, The Remains of the Day) so any of his other stuff and books by authors with his writing style would be great.
- Postcards from anywhere.
- Fanmixes/graphics (icons, wallpapers) of any of my fandoms.
- Mix. I'm always looking for new stuff to listen to so here's my last.fm though there are a lotof artists I love that aren't on there (this can be on a cd or download).
Email me at miacallisto at gmail dot com or pm me for my address.
Thank you!

Date: 2008-12-13 05:10 pm (UTC)First, let me suggest you add tags -- makes you easier to find!
Second, let me recommend two TV Shows - both of which i just LOVE:
Hu$tle is a UK show with Robert Vaughn in the lead. It's a group of grifters who only do big jobs and only to the bad guys. The grifters make a score and usually, someone deserving benefits. It's a great deal of fun, well written, and watching them create the con is a hoot. Most easily found through AMC.
Leverage is a US show that has *got* to be based on Hu$tle, but even knowing both, I LOVE this new show with Tim Hutton (just started on TNT a week or two ago). Again, a collection of grifters, but this time the focus is to do the Bad guys out with specific intent to benefit someone deserving. They're willing to do so because the last con they pulled before the group formed as "Leverage Consulting" netted each of them multi-millions. Tim Hutton is a hoot and the other actors are great fun. Again, well written and well performed.
Hope you enjoy them!

Music
I really like folk music, so here are some great recs.
Mike Campbell (http://www.arctic.net/~mooseman) - He's an Alaskan singer-songwriter.
Seamus Kennedy - an Irish singer. Great guy.
Movies
Let the Right One In (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1139797/) is a Swedish movie that I found absolutely breathtaking.

I've got the Susannah Clarke book on my shelf and I've been meaning to read it for a while now. It's just the number of pages tend to scare me :P
The new Neil Gaiman book has been on my list ever since it was published.
I LOVE Dr Horrible! It was great!
I'll check out the movie and the other stuff as well.

Date: 2008-12-13 06:40 pm (UTC)I love House! Hugh Laurie is so awesome.
I liked Heroes in its first season but Season 2 was disappointing and I gave up on it this season. Even Kristen Bell couldn't keep me watching :(
I've been meaning to watch Bleach though it seems really long. I've heard about Chobits.
Thank you!

Date: 2008-12-14 01:27 am (UTC)I have a book rec for you - Lonely Wolf Girl by Martin Millar, great writer with an unusual style that really shines in this book.
I saw someone rec'd Susanna Clark and you said you had it, read it! You wont't notice how many pages are there when you get started, other than an aching wrist from holding it, it's a great book.
