Dec. 13th, 2008 10:19 amHappy holidays! I'm Jennifer. I'm 27 years old. I hail from Southern California, the land of warmth, though you wouldn't know that by today. It looks pretty rainy out there. I have to be honest: I wish it wasn't holiday time. I see the holiday decorations and hear the music at work, the Christmas lights on the houses, but it hasn't sunk in. My mom was taken to the hospital ten days ago because she was showing similar symptoms to the ones I had seen when she had had a heart attack seven years ago. It turns out that she has a high CO2 level. She's doing better now, but the doctors do not know when she can come home. She might even be in the hospital after Christmas and New Years. I've devoted my time to work and to her. Even at the expense of my own emotions. I'm kind of ignoring them because I cannot adequately deal with them right now. We're doing the best we can with what we have.
Thank you for this. &hearts I can be reached at: writerfangirl @ gmail.com
Holiday Wishes
1. Surprise me. For my mom. She's very bored in the hospital. Whatever you think would help would be great. :)
2. The Champions Set 1 for my dad.
3Gift cards (Target, iTunes, and Bath & Body Works)
4. Single recipes and cookbooks (particularly with a low fat, low sugar, vegetarian variety, but I'd take anything. I want to start a regiment for losing weight and my mom now needs to keep to a diabetic diet for her health.)
5. Buy something from the Band From TV store and share it with someone you love or keep it for yourself. All proceeds will go to the charities that the band members support. :)
6. Dance Dance Revolution (I fell in love with this game when I first played it last December. It's amazing! And I think it would greatly help me with losing weight. I love to dance and move.)
7. Journals and writing implements (I collect and use both. Any sort of journal. Used or not. I love them all.)
8. A wireless laptop with Windows XP (Even would love a EEE. I really don't care what brand it is, just as long as I can go online with it and it has word processing.)
9. A better job (Currently I am working at Borders, which is great, but it isn't who I am. I have a BA in Creative Writing, which I was putting to good use as a writing tutor at a community college from 04-07, but then my contract expired and could not be renewed per state mandate. I would like to be a writing tutor at another school, or an academic adviser. I have a great love for college and I want to share this love with others to help them see how talented they are and how much they have to offer the world.)
10. Any clipping or magazine related to the NBC show Heroes (I love this show so much and I'm trying to collect most of the articles that are out there about it.)
Many thanks again.

Date: 2008-12-13 08:40 pm (UTC)It's very hard having a family member in the hospital during the holidays. My mom was at the same hospital she is at now during Thanksgiving seven years ago, after her heart attack. This time around is very reminiscent of then, too. How is your father?

Date: 2008-12-14 12:20 am (UTC)I am currently living with my friend who both her parents have diabetes. I did not know how serious the illness was until her father's blood sugar dropped to 29 and he almost went into a diabetic coma.
So she is trying to cook healther for them I'll ask her and maybe she can give me a few of her favourites and I'll e-mail it to you :)

Thank you for the recipes too!
