[identity profile] rawrrainbow.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] holidaywishes

Hi. I’m Abigail and I’m 15 years. I live in Belgium, which is in Europe. This is my second year with Holiday Wishes, although I had last year a different account. It’s really nice to see that everyone at this community who posts their wishes, get one of more granted. Thank you for granting each other wishes. It gives me the feeling that people do still care, you know? In these times it sometimes is hard to remember. Thank you. Just like everyone else, I will post my wishlist. Basically, I really want one wish really bad. My first one:

1.       ‘The Desert Song’, a movie with Denis Morgan (1943) – Last year I asked exactly the same. It’s not for me, but for my grandfather. My grandfather is… I barely dare to say it out loud because it’s kinda hard for me… getting old… and I don’t believe he has many more years, even months… to… you know what I mean… Well, if I ask him what he wants more than anything, he answers that he really wants to see this movie again. He says it’s the best movie ever made. I’m already searching it for 2 years, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere. I’m so afraid I won’t find it. You will be my hero and the one of my grandfather as well, forever, if you have this movie for him. Thank you for reading this.

2.       Stamps – Again, nothing for me, but for my grandfather. He collects them, and any sort of stamps (used ones, old ones, new ones) are just fine. It’s for his collection.

3.       Something personal – I want to hear your story. Send me a letter about how this totally random day went. Something crafty, a postcard, a secret, a photo, a drawing, an article that you find in the newspaper,… I would love to get something like this. It’s perfect for on my wall. I would love to get to know your life. And if you want, you can send it anonymous.

4.       Purple hair dye - haha, I recently began the search for it. But it would be nice if there excised a purple hair dye that lasted longer than just a week or two.

5.       Stationary/stickers – any kind. It doesn’t matter if it’s just a sheet. I would love to get more stationary. I love to write!

6.       Postsecret Books – I love Postsecret. Frank Warren did a pretty amazing job with it. The secrets people send in can make me laugh, can make me cry and can make me do those two at the same time. If you don’t know Postsecret, go Google it.

7.       Smile – You have no idea what a simple smile can do. A smile can brighten someone’s day. A smile can bring happiness, even hope, to someone who forgot that there was any left. Smile to a stranger. Keep smiling. Smiles make people beautiful. Thank you.

8.       I adore surprises!  - No, that's not right: I LOVE suprises. :D

Thank you for reading this. That means a lot to me. I wish you all happy holidays!

Lot's of love, Abigail.

This (http://www.amphigory.com/special_effects_hairdye.html) is pretty amazing hair dye, if you've never tried it. :) In all sorts of colors!

I use the atomic pink, but I had a friend who used a combination of the purples and some of them faded while others didn't. The pink stays in forEVer, I only have to redye maybe four times a year. I really like the faded look, though, but it barely fades...this pic was taken a couple weeks ago, and the last time I dyed it was the beginning of October. So if you want pink hair, it'll last forever. :)

You can check out the links on the colors, most of them have pictures and some of them show the color after a few weeks/months/what have you.

i have spent the last 45 minutes looking for that movie. have you called college libraries with media centers? you might be able to get a copy (or rather, a copy of their copy) through them.

It looks like this person http://www.ioffer.com/i/32771241 is selling copies of The Desert Song. Hope it lives up to your grandfather's expectations when he watches it again :-)

Aside from the above iOffers posting, a couple more people there are offering The Desert Song. If none of these offers quite suit you, you can post your own "wanted" ad over there and maybe get just what you need.

here (http://www.ioffer.com/i/85211226) and here (http://www.ioffer.com/i/55434541)

A few things to ask before you buy are: Are the copies in B&W or in color? Looks like some sellers only have a B&W version. Does it make a difference to your grandfather?

Ask about quality as well. It can vary greatly, and if you don't ask you might end up with something that's almost unwatchable.

Also try to make sure you'll be able to play the DVD. With luck, you can get a region-free one and won't have any issues.

Hmmm. Old movies are tricky - looks like there have been a couple of movies with that title. Try here: http://www.movielead.com/index.html - they find old and hard to find movies.

Yay! Purple hair!

My purple hair is done with a mix of Special Effects - Wild Flower (http://www.specialeffectsusa.com/hair_dye.html) and Pravana Chorasilk Vivids - Violet (http://pravana.com/v2/vis/products/chromasilk_vivids.php). Fresh dye [01] (http://lylith.com/albums/miri/20070731_purple03d.jpg) - [02] (http://lylith.com/albums/miri/20070731_purple02b.jpg) - [03] (http://lylith.com/albums/miri/20070922_purpleblackgreen02.jpg). My purple usually lasts around 8-10 weeks. I use Paul Mitchell Color Protect shampoo and conditioner (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0012NF8VK?ie=UTF8&tag=allfortiger&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0012NF8VK)Image and use cooler water to wash and rinse. The cooler the water, the longer your dye will last. I also shampoo only twice a week. Staying out of the sun also helps your dye last longer.

Thank you!

My hair is naturally dark brown, too. Yes, it must be bleached for the purple to show and stay.

Here in the US, there are no permanent hair dyes in the 'unnatural' colors [pink, purple, blue, orange, etc.] Our FDA won't approve them for some reason. I thought I found a permanent purple dye being sold through a UK website a few years ago, but I cannot find the link now.

When you do get your purple hair, I'd love to see pictures! =]

Happy Holidays!
