Hi! I’m Sabienne, a nineteen year old gap-yearing girl from the Netherlands. This means I can send over postcards and the likes all the way from my watery country, but it probably diminishes my chances of getting something sent over all the way from.. wherever you’re from. However, I am extremely excited about getting to do things for some people of earth.. though as this is my first time doing this, I’m still feeling a little awkward and settling in. Also, I AM SO LATE, I shouldn’t have left it this long. But, oh well, next year better, perhaps?
Okay, listy-time.

Okay, listy-time.
- More LJ friends. I feel like I’ve been here for a while, but I also still feel somewhat new and definitely alone. If you’re into bandom especially, be my friend! (:
- Books or book recommendations. Spiritual themed ones are also welcome.
- Handwritten letters or postcards, or something from your country that’s typically your country. Or just something from where you’re from. Anything. (newspapers!)
- A best friend is also welcome.
- Musical recommendations. If it has kick-ass lyrics that take your breath away it’s likely to steal my heart.
- A pretty William Beckett-y icon.
- Stories from people who’ve been on gap years. What they’ve done, experienced, anythingwhatever. Tell me about it!
- To Write Love On Her Arms stuff. For you to know about twloha. For you to write love on someone’s arms.
- Smile at strangers. Wink at strangers. Love strangers. Be happy, there’s always a reason not to be happy. So decide to be happy anyway. If not now, when?
- A long email from you about you, about your life. Anyone is welcome.

By the way, I'm a real TWLOHA-supporter as well. All because of Paramore, haha. Do you know Paramore? :D It's such an awesome band.

Date: 2008-12-21 03:10 pm (UTC)Ohh, that's great! Yeah, I know Paramore, I've seen them live twice, now. I kind of want to marry Hayley. And dude, I don't even remember how I found out about TWLOHA. Before Paramore though, that's for sure.. Ahah, I remember when this (http://i40.tinypic.com/oqw4l0.jpg) picture was up on their myspace and I thought 'ohh, she's pretty.'

7. My gap year was quite a while ago, but I'd be glad to answer questions via email if you like.

Date: 2008-12-24 10:31 am (UTC)#2: Any particular spirituality type books in general, or a specific religious theme you're looking for? I've read several and I can make quite a few recommendations depending on what you're looking for.
#5: I'm pretty hooked on Darren Hayes' "This Delicate Thing We've Made" CD right now. It has some amazing lyrics.

Date: 2008-12-27 01:17 pm (UTC)2. okay, so i was going to say i didn't know how to describe it etc. etc. but i'm going to say something different after studying your profile and reading your december 21st post. d'you want to give me the title of the book you found most 'truth' in, so to say? like, one that made your heart all bubbly and like 'yes, i think this is what's going on in this world!' or that just made you realise things about life or yourself or.. ? you know? (also, faerie's totally exist. maybe i got it wrong and maybe that wasn't what you meant, but um. i think they do, anyway. like angels and.. other stuff.)
5. thank you! i'll look it up :)

Date: 2008-12-28 04:42 pm (UTC)Some of these might not resound with other people in the same way that they did with me, for the sheer reasoning that everyone is on a different path and therefore will need different information at different points in their lives. At the very least I hope they're interesting.
A Perfect Madness: From Awakening to Enlightenment (http://www.amazon.com/Perfect-Madness-Enlightenment-Donna-Gorrell/dp/193072201X/)
This particular book is from a Buddhist mindset, which isn't the path I'm on but I still found it to be full of very insightful truths and it sort of 're-kick started' my foray into spiritual matters seriously back in 2005 after a period of inactivity. There are some critics of this particular book and it's author as far as the Buddhist aspect goes because some people believe it's not possible to have an awakening to the higher, spiritual self without years and years of formal religious training, but I'm not one of those types.
Anam Cara: A Book of Celtic Wisdom (http://www.amazon.com/Anam-Cara-Book-Celtic-Wisdom/dp/B000JCEAXW/)
I absolutely adore this book. It delves into the concept of the Anam Cara as well other topics. I simply can't say enough good about this one, so I'll keep it concise and simply say it's worth checking out.
The Spiral of Memory and Belonging: A Celtic Path of Soul and Kinship (http://www.amazon.com/Spiral-Memory-Belonging-Celtic-Kinship/dp/1577314239/)
This one goes into the importance of ancestral ties to past spiritual ways to our current time. I'm currently re-reading this as it's been a couple years since the first time I checked it out, and I'm finding that it's more apt this time around with where I am in life.
The Sidhe: Wisdom from the Celtic Otherworld (http://www.amazon.com/Sidhe-Wisdom-Celtic-Otherworld/dp/0936878053/)
This particular book kind of leaps "down the rabbit hole" in regards to the faerie faith and it's a source of debate since it's channeled writing from the Sidhe and some critics think it's utter rubbish and a work of total fiction. I'm of a different camp on this particularly because I have an immense respect for John Matthew's work and I've had the opportunity to hear him speak at the FaerieCon workshops along with Brian Froud. There's such a lack of pomp and self-importance to both of these men when they speak about their encounters with the Faerie and such a solemn respect in their words and their work that I've found 'suspension of disbelief' an easy thing to come by.
Walkers Between the Worlds: The Western Mysteries from Shaman to Magus (http://www.amazon.com/Walkers-Between-Worlds-Western-Mysteries/)
This is a book I'm currently working my way through; it's a join collaboration by John Matthews and CaitlĂn Matthew, his wife. It's a bit heavy reading at some points, but I'm utterly fascinated by the magnitude of research and insight this book holds.
There's a few to start off with. I've got plenty more recommendations if you find these interesting, or even if you find they're not your cup of tea I've got several other recs for books of a different spiritual tune.
