Dec. 22nd, 2008 05:47 pmHey everyone! I know this is a little late, but I didn't want to have any more excuses to procrastinate from writing finals. Now that I'm done, I can spend some time browsing the community to see what wishes I can grant! Here's a little about me: I'm 25, a biology major, and will be moving to another city (Saskatoon) for a co-op work term starting in January. I can't afford to give a lot that has a dollar value, so I don't expect anything that does either. Although some of the things I'll list may have a dollar value, I'd really prefer that things given to me are not purchased just to give to me.
Anyways, here is my list!
1. Ideas for romantic or nifty things that I can do long distance just to show my husband I care, while I am away on my work term.
2. Photos or artwork! Both digital or real works. I love art in all forms- so anything goes.
3. Gift certificate for ncix.com
4. Anything for an 11 yr old boy who is going blind. My little brother is losing his sight at an incredible rate- one eye is already blind, and the other is almost there. We're finding that it is difficult to find things that he can enjoy with little sight, since most kids items are so visual.
5. Foreign candy, chocolate, etc. There are just so many things that are hard to find in Canada!
6. Knitted anything! I'd also love to learn how to knit
7. Riding lessons
8. Dr. Martens footwear. I love the stuff, but can't seem to find much at garage sales. I should fit UK 7
9. Suggestions for living with room mates. Their ages will vary from 18- 60ish. I've never lived with anyone other than my family and my husband.
10. Surprise me! I love surprises :)
You can email me at majandra913 at hotmail dot com for my address.

Date: 2008-12-23 01:15 am (UTC)I've been a student and done the houseshare thing. My one piece of advice would be to sort the money out immediately and stick to that plan. For example how are the bills paid? Are you going to have a communal fund to buy things like light bulbs, cleaning products and other stuff everyone uses? My houseshare was great, but money was the cause of each of our very infrequent rows.

Date: 2008-12-23 02:13 am (UTC)Also, as for advice for living with new people...
I find it helps to test out the waters a bit and then about three days in or so, I'll be completely direct about my pet peeves (and the new one's I've discovered I have from living in a new place with new people). I've found it works out better to wait a little before I express what's bugging me. At the same time, I usually let people know initially what kind of roommate I will be (ie I like quiet etc). Also, be aware that you'll have to compromise as everyone has their wants. I hope it works out though!

Date: 2008-12-23 02:33 am (UTC)That is a good idea to wait a bit before talking of peeves and such. I could only guess what would bother me without experiencing it!

Date: 2008-12-23 03:28 am (UTC)But on each slip she put the reason she loved him- from super romantic to funny to random (like she had put down for one- you're cat like snores).
The chain was able to be hung so that he could see it.
