Dec. 8th, 2004 11:58 amI have been overwhelmed by the response to my daughter's post about my needing help. I have preferred giving to receiving all my life, it gave me a great deal of pleasure to make other happy rarely did I ask for or accept help from anyone even if I was in need. But recently it was pointed out to me that I needed to allow others the same joy that I experienced, by allowing others to help me. So here is my wish list.
1. Crystals (any shape) for hanging in my bedroom window. (My Mom had some in the window when she was going thru chemo treatments which I now have in my kitchen window. I'd love to have more so I can put some in my bedroom window so while I'm in bed in pain, so I can to enjoy the rainbows , that remind me of my Mom's courage when she battled cancer.)
2. Movie tickets to Kerasotes theatre.
3. Wal Mart or Media Play gift certificates for DVD's. (I'm in bed or on the sofa in pain a great deal of the time so this is my one luxury since I am homebound most the time.)
4. Anything off my Amazon wish list. *These items can be used, but I will decline pirated copies as I won't do anything illegal.*
5. Holiday cards. (Mailing address can be found here.)
6. HP Laptop (email for specifics) (So I can create designs for embroidery machines that I can sell to help my family with the medical bills. I am a seamstress but am limited by my health problems so I thought I could help my family by making these designs to sell, which can be done in bed if I can get a laptop with enough memory and hard drive space.)
7. My dream Christmas gift would be to go to NY with my husband and daughter to see The Phantom of The Opera and take a carriage ride. (I'd like to make some memories with my daughter and husband besides those of doctors visits, hospitals, surgeries etc. Life is so short I'd like to do a few fun things while I still can.)
Not looking for this to be fulfilled but this would be my ultimate dream which was what I was told to post in addition to my easier to fill dreams.

Date: 2004-12-09 09:11 am (UTC)I have used it to do designs on custom doll clothes in the past.
Since I'm not able to sew as much right now, I thought I could create designs for doll clothes for other seamstresses who have machines such as mine. Because once I create these designs they can be sold from my web site basically forever making money over and over when I only have to make the design once.
I could do this while in bed or on the sofa, hence the reason for asking my hubby last year for a laptop.
This Simplicity Smart Box is not compatible with my machine. In fact it's the first time I have heard of it.
Is this something you have used?

Date: 2004-12-09 06:03 am (UTC)I was diagnosed with Acinic cell carcinoma of the left salivary gland. I do not know if it is high or low grade as path tests that should have been done at the first surgery were not. So I must be very vigilant in case it is the more rapidly spreading aggressive type, and chemo and traditional radiation are not effective in treating this cancer.
This cancer has a propensity to return to the lung and or bones so it can be deadly if not caught early as it pops up, and there is no 5 year cure rate with this cancer. People have had it return a year out from diagnosis, five or 20 years out.
So that is why the trips to Mayo Clinic are so vital to my beating this disease.
Thanks for your concern, and your blessings. May you be as blessed for your compassion!

Date: 2004-12-09 09:16 am (UTC)I'll look forward to getting the crystals and the card. You are so sweet for offering to send me a gift that will be such a lovely reminder of my Mom. What a beautiful Christmas gift they will be, and I'll remember you along with my Mom when those rainbows dance happily on sunny days across my bedroom walls!
Hugs, Christina
