I wish...

Hello. :) I've been fulfilling little wishes here and there for the past couple weeks and since some have asked for my wishlist I figured I'd best make one.

My name is Taryn and I'm a 30 year old unemployed student of life, living in a ridiculously tiny town in western Nebraska. I am disabled (severe rheumatoid arthritis) and wheelchair-bound, and due to various factors am pretty much unable to work. I keep myself busy with the computer mainly, and also music, reading, movies, and my kitties. I've been actively participating in this community for the past few years, it is sometimes the only thing that keeps me from hating this difficult time of year. As with everyone else, it's been a bad year, but I'm not going into the details because really they're not that different from everyone else's struggles; heart break, health issues, depression, family problems, domestic mishaps, etc.

With that, my list is fairly short and simple this year because really all I'm interested in are the simple pleasures in life:

1. Snail Mail. Yup, I am perfectly happy getting a card/letter/postcard in the mail. In fact I'd like to get many. It's nice that someone took the time to think of you and send you something, isn't it? Tell me about yourself. Tell me a story. Send me a random Polaroid of your pet. Share a secret with me. I love cards, Christmas, holiday, you name it. I'm not particularly fond of the overly religious types as I myself am not religious (but more on the spiritual side), but other than that anything goes. I love getting things from outside the U.S. also, bonus points if you write me something in your native language and maybe provide an English translation too? :)

2. Music. A mix CD or a zip file to download, I'm happy with either. I am head-over-heels in love with music, it soothes my soul. I'm really into alternative right now, but honestly I listen to just about anything (including country and holiday music). I'm just not a fan of hard-core rap, jazz, or anything gospel. Or, if any of you happen to have any of these mp3s and would be willing to share, I'd love you for life:

- Vampire Weekend - Ottoman
- The Big Pink - Dominoes
- Passion Pit - Let Your Love Grow Tall
- David Guetta - Sexy Chick (-sigh- It's my current guilty pleasure song, I can't help it.)

3. Stickers. I collect them and always use them on cards. Seasonal, holiday, birthday, flowers, butterflies, whatever. I'll find a use for it somewhere. They need not be expensive, I'm a frequent shopper at the Dollar Store and have found plenty of good stickers there.

4. Personal address labels. It makes addressing the cards so much easier for me. I had someone make me some last year and I really appreciated that.

5. Vampire things. In particular, anything related to the Twilight series. (Yes, I'm a Twilight freak!) Such as this bookmark, or this cell phone charm. I have the books, the movie, and the soundtracks.

6. Random acts of kindness. Be kind to people. The world is struggling and we've all got our own problems to deal with, but sometimes a smile and a hello make a world of difference. Open the door for someone, offer to help them carry something, let someone ahead of you in line.
