Hey. My name is Jess and I'm 22 years old. I work two part-time jobs; have a kitty and some hamsters and an amazing boyfriend. My Computer ended up crashing last year, so I lost everything.

1. Cards/snail mail. I love mail that isn't bills. Send me a letter, a story, a photo, Anything! I'll love it all.

2. The will to get back into my photography. When I entered high school, I took a photography class and wound up taking them til I graduated. And then in college I took some more photography classes. I loved photography up until this time last year when my ex left me stranded in Virginia with no money to get home. I had to pawn my camera to get back to jersey. My current boyfriend surprised me with a camera body in August and then bought the lens for me in October. I can't find the will to go out though. :( Somebody help, please!

3. Gift cards. Walmart, Kmart, Petco. Any and all would be wonderful, even if they only have a dollar on them.

4. Cat toys, balls, feathery things, enough catnip to put her into a catnip induced coma (just joking). In order to keep kitty-kitty away from the hamsters.

5. A handmade quilt... I'm not joking. I have a huge fondness for quilts and would love for someone to make one for me.

6. Quilting supplies/advice. Books, replacement blades for my rotary cutter, self healing mat.

7. Recipes. I'm getting an apartment in the next few months and need recipes. Send me your favorite.

8. Photography supplies. Have an old slr/lens/tripod/etc you don't use? I'll take it.

9. Well wishes for some friends. One of my friends just found out her popi has cancer. Another friend who has cancer is pregnant and in Korea teaching English to kindergarteners.

10. Anything off my Amazon wishlist. Used is more than welcome. Or if you have it lying around and you don't want it anymore, send it my way.

My e-mail address is Cornelison09 at sbc dot edu.

1. I'll send you a card :) Message me with your address.

7. Cheddar Scalloped Sweet Potatoes

I substitue fancier cheeses for this one. Be aware, it takes a lot longer to cook than the recipe thinks it does!

Ingredients
3 large sweet potatoes
2 to 3 cups half-and-half
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
Freshly grated nutmeg, to taste
Salt and pepper
1 1/2 cups grated sharp Cheddar
1 to 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into bits, plus extra for dish
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Peel potatoes and cut diagonally into 1/4-inch thick slices.

In a saucepan combine 3 cups of the half-and-half, garlic, freshly grated nutmeg and salt and pepper, to taste. Bring to a boil over moderate heat.

Butter a 1 1/2 quart oval gratin dish, layer potatoes and cheese (reserving 1/4 cup of the cheese for the topping) and pour the cream mixture over the potatoes. Sprinkle the top of the gratin with the reserved cheese and dot with the butter. Transfer the gratin to the oven and bake for 30 to 40 minutes, or until bubbling and golden. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

three cloves of garlic, crushed or finely chopped

If you're looking for a fun way to get back into photography, try the 365 challenge. Basically you take one picture a day for 365 days.

It's a fun challenge, and I'm restarting again on 1 Jan. :-)

Chicken Enchilada Casserole (Super Easy!)

1 large can of cream of mushroom
1 large can of cream of chicken
1 can of enchilada sauce
Chicken (either frozen that you can cook up in a pan or a pre-cooked one. When I'm lazy, I just get a rotisserie chicken from the store.)
1 small can of green chiles (this is optional-you can throw in jalapenos if you want a little more kick)
Flour or corn tortillas (whichever you prefer-I use white corn tortillas)
Grated cheese

Chop or tear your cooked chicken into bite size pieces.

Combine everything but your tortillas and cheese in a large pot, bring to a simmer for about ten minutes.

Line a large casserole pan with butter, oil, or the nonstick spray of your choice. Ladle in your casserole mixture to cover the entire bottom of the pan. Tear your tortillas into fourths, and lay them down to cover the enchilada mixture you've ladled into the pan. Cover with a sprinkling of cheese. Repeat this pattern until you've filled the entire pan.

Bake in the oven around 375 until the cheese on top is toasty and the pan is bubbling around the edges. Remove, let cool a bit, and enjoy!

To make this casserole in a smaller portion (say, for yourself and not for 6, like the above recipe can cover.) you can cut everything in half. I'll make it for me and a friend by using small soup cans and just a chicken breast or two.

(I had a vegetarian friend make it veggie-friendly by taking out the chicken and chopping fresh avocado on top. It was super delicious.)

As for getting back into your photography-if you love something, and miss it, try taking small steps. I think the 365 challenge is good idea for you. You could start a flickr account and ask family and friends to start watching it, leaving you accountable if you don't update it on a regular basis. Or do the same with your lj friends! Ask other people to bug you about your photography. Holding yourself accountable is hard enough, but when other people do it, I find it works best for me. I hope you get back to it. :D

Positive thoughts for your friends cost me nothing but a small moment of my time, so consider it done.

Happy holidays!

#6, quilting advice: I've only made a couple quilts, and I did them using my t-shirts from elementary through high school and college -- depending on what you intend to use for the different patches, this might be a useful tip. For all of mine, the material from the shirts tended to want to stretch, so before I could sew shirt to shirt to shirt, I had to put some backing material on each square to keep it from actually stretching as I sewed and once it was together. The one I used was an iron-on; I'm not sure if they make others.

Best of luck with your quilting endeavors! :)
