This is my third year doing holiday wishes. I am a 29 yr old college student in the central valley area of California- this time last year I was homeless, and people here were really kind to me then, and I'm trying to do what I can to be kind back, despite limited budgets.
What do I really wish for Christmas? You mean aside from the things I absolutely can't have, like having all the people I love there? Or to- have the pieces I liked out of my old life back- not that I'd know what to do with them now?
)Music. (I almost forgot this one- then a song I was listening to here at *Starbucks* nearly made me cry in public!). Particularly Leonard Cohen (ANY of his), Tori Amos (I have her early stuff, but nothing after the one w/the dreamcatcher on it, trying to remember the name), Melissa Etheridge (any), Death Cab for Cutie, My Chemical Romance- anything you think I might like. I don't care at all if it's mp3s or not- I'm just missing music.
)Coloring books. Fancy ones like Dover ones or others for adults (the stained glass ones are really cool!) or the kind kids color w/crayons. Christmas ones especially.
)A renewal of my just-expired LJ account :(
)books on trauma and related issues (self-harm, eating disorders, dissociation, ritual abuse, etc.) (like "Understanding Self-Injury: A Workbook for Adults by Robin Conners, or Stolen Tomorrows by Steven Levenkron- not the magor old ones, I have those)
)yarn! I love yarn. (to feed my crocheting addiction).
)mail. Cards, letters, whatever- i really like getting things in the mail
)care packages of little things- lots of kids/artsy things especially. I used to get these from my aunt as a child and it was a really, really special thing for me.
)crocheting books, especially arigumi (those cute little stuffed animals) but other things too
)Derwent colorsoft pencils *sigh* (they're lovely, and expensive)
)A good Christmas. It's been a long time since I had one.
