Hey there!

I'm Jen. This has always been a fun community to a part of. I think this is my third year taking part. I'm 28, a lover of books, of reading, and of writing despite becoming a recent bookseller survivor (not gonna fault the books when it was the company's fault for sucking). I'm at this time in my life where I have achieved much of what I had set out to do for myself and am not sure what to do next. I am on a trek to re-find myself and what I want to do with my life. I mean to make 2010 the year when I get some things about myself and my life finally settled.

My wishes:

1. Helping Johanna - On December 1st, my friend's best friend, Johanna, lost her husband after a two year battle with cancer. Johanna's friends have set up [livejournal.com profile] britgeek_love where they are auctioning off many handmade items, as well as other things, as a way of getting Johanna monetary help in her time of need. The money raised will be used to help cover funeral expenses and to help Johanna in her grief. Direct donations to Johanna can be sent to her on Paypal at johanna_mead (at) yahoo (dot) com.

2. Journals and any sort of book with paper - I am a writer and I collect journals. I like ones that are different. Ones that have stars on them, or quotes. Or pictures. What have you. I like most journals, with the exception of ones that are made out of leather.

3. Book recommendations - I'm always on the look out for something new to read. I would like to read 100 books in 2010. My favorite topics include include books about writing and author memoirs (especially by Ralph Wahlstrom and Natalie Goldberg; I am currently reading Julia Cameron, this to give you an idea of the subject matter), new age (Angels, creative/journaling, Indigo children, Law of Attraction, 2012; I am open to other topics if the book is interesting), and fiction books involving Angels, werewolves, and magic. I'm looking for some books that are heavy in supernatural, like Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series, but with plot. Less sex (but I am not opposed to sex. Just want more plot than porn.)

4. Music recommendations - I want to build up my iTunes library. Some of my favorite bands right now include Evermore, Coldplay, Linkin Park, and Snow Patrol. My favorite soloists include Howie Day, Jason Mraz, Mika, and James Blunt. Know of any folks like those bands or soloists? And if you know of something, any genre, that has good rhythm and/or lyrics, please share that too.

5. Tea - I am starting to really love tea. I am using more alternatives to soda. I really like strawberries, raspberries, and hibiscus. So herbal blends, primarily. I'm looking for any kind of tea. It can come in any form too: tea bags, pyramid bags and loose leaf pouches or canisters.

6. Socks - I am starting to get into comfy socks. I enjoy silly socks, like ones that have holiday designs. Any novelty, holiday, or warm female socks (just socks, not knee socks) from Joy of Socks would be great.

7. Bath and Body - One of my favorite things to do is take a bath. I am also always on the look out for bath salts. I love floral scents, especially roses. Two of my favorite places for bath stuff are Bath and Body Works--favorite scents are the Butterfly Flower and Dancing Waters--and Lush--for their bath bombs and bubble bars. My favorite bubble bar is Christmas Eve, but I love all of the bath bombs and bubble bars. If you know of another bath place, particularly one that sells bath salts, please share. It's so hard to find bath salts these days.

8. Candles - I've been getting into the use of candles for creating mood and aroma therapy. I like pillar candles, but also the ones that come in little glass jars are great too. Natural and floral scents are especially nice.

9. Tasty recipes for someone on a low sodium diet - My mom was recently placed on a low-sodium diet, and I would really like to make her something that she will enjoy and that will be healthy for her.

10. Livejournal 100x100 icons - I have 52 open slots for icons on this journal and I'd like to fill some of them up. I especially love the textures, colors, and moods of the icons I have in my writing journal, and am looking for things like that...just for this journal. Maybe something fandom related (Heroes especially), or writing, or nature. I'm primarily looking for colorful and eye-catching.

I didn't know you were a bookseller. Where did you work? (I used to work at Waldenbooks many moons ago.)

Do you want just music recs or a mix cd made special for you from me?

Hi. *waves*

I've got a few recommendations for you:

3. Book Recommendations:
One of my friends loves the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. http://www.officialsanctuary.com/dark-hunter_series/reading_order.html I haven't read the series myself, but I figured you might want to check it out. :D

4. Music recommendations:
I love Snow Patrol, especially the songs "Make This Go On Forever" and "Set Fire to the Third Bar". *shuffles through ITunes*

I have a lot of favorite songs. Three in particular: "Parachute" by Guster, "Waitin' for a Superman" by Iron and Wine, and "Consequence" by Notwist. I can send them to you via e-mail if you'd like them.

5. Tea: I'm kind of broke right now, but I can give you a tea recommendation. :D I really like African Rooibos Red Tea.

6. Socks: Again, a recommendation. Have you seen http://www.littlemissmatched.com/? They have really cute socks.

Happy Holidays!

Also, some music recommendations: Maria Mena, she has a wonderful voice but she's not a male soloist. :P Also, check out: Anberlin, The Script & Shinedown. :)

I am also a recovering bookseller. ;)

I have joined [livejournal.com profile] britgeek_love, and am bidding on several auctions as it is. Thank you for listing it! :)

Good luck with your life journey in the next year. If you can settle everything while you're hitting your Saturn Return (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saturn_return), you'll be set for pretty much ever. :) It was a chaotic time for me (I'm 31 and just now recovering from that period of my life), and while I don't necessarily believe in all things woo-woo, it was spot-on for me. I'll keep thinking good thoughts for you that things go smoothly. :)

I would suggest J.R. Ward, Kresley Cole, and Lara Adrian to start with. If you look them up on Amazon, the 'other people who bought this...' note might suggest more authors.

Happy Holidays!

I forgot the nature request. That one I can do more easily. But do you care what? I mean, trees? Scenes? Animals? Flowers?

I didn't actually make any, and I don't know the makers, unfortunately.

I look into the nature ones. There will be more of those, I know. (:

I'll browse through my iTunes collection and see what I can come up with for you. I have some of those artists already, so it shouldn't be too hard.

also, I can send a journal if you want.

Golden Tea is giving away free samples (http://www.goldenteacompany.com/form1.html).

And have you listened to Michael Buble, 3 Doors Down, Chris Daughtry, Natasha Bedingfield, Plumb or Stabbing Westward? Those are what come to mind when I think of the bands/artists you named.

I'll be sending you a book... eventually. Money is a bit tight so it may be late.
