Hello everyone! I'm Roxanne, 21-year-old college student in Southern CA, finishing school this week with a journalism degree. I'll be moving back home with my parents for now, but hope to soon find a job and get my own place.

1. Anything from the musical Wicked. Programs, playbills, understudy slips, flyers, fanfic recommendations, anything. It's my favorite show, and I'm kinda obsessed.

2. A job combining journalism and musical theater. Basically I like to write, and love musicals, so I want to find a job that combines them. But I'm still pretty new to the world of theater, so I don't know a lot of what's out there. Any advice or tips would be great!

3. Translations of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone." I'm a huge HP fan, and I collect the first book in different languages and editions. If you have a spare copy, new or used, I would love to have it! Or if not, anything Harry Potter related would be great as well, I've been a fan for 10 years.

4. Advice on moving to New York. I've never been there, and it's not a sure thing if I will move, but I'm really drawn by the appeal of seeing all those Broadway shows. My closest frame of reference is living in London, so comparisons of the two cities would be helpful, or just general advice for moving and surviving in NYC on your own.

5. Prayers for my family. My grandma passed away this past Saturday night, so Christmas this year will be a little tough, especially for my dad.

6. Surprises! Anything else you think I might like; you can check out my profile for other interests of mine.

My e-mail is roxypena@hotmail.com. Feel free to link to your own list as well if you leave a comment!

For # 4-
Have lots of money saved. As much as you can.

Be in physically good shape, or the walking and subway stairs are going to take it out of you.

If you get a job in advance, keep in mind when discussing salary that the taxes are going to eat your check. Ask for more than you think you need.

Have good credit and as little debt as possible when you move.

When you take an apartment or room for rent, make sure this place is in the condition you need it to be in right then. Don't trust them to fix it later, as it may not be fixed by moving day (this happened to me, arrived with moving truck to appt with no front door or toilet)

3. Have you looked into internships? They might help you get your foot in the door. A friend of mine had an internship with http://www.theatermania.com/ and really seemed to enjoy it. I don't know much about the details (paid or unpaid internship, whether being a student was required), but it might spark some ideas for you.

4. Relatively new New Yorker here. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

If you can, visit the city before you make a decision about moving. It's a wonderful city, but it has to be right for you.

As with London, New York is EXPENSIVE. Save up as much as possible and check into how much it will cost to live in your desired neighborhood(s) before you make plans to move.

Hopstop.com is your friend for public transport, especially on the weekends when the subway's all messed up.

5. My condolences. My thoughts and strength are with you and your family.

Hi there! I knew I recognized that icon, but I never put it together that you were an HP fan, too lol.
I'm so sorry about your grandma, my stepmom just passed away two weeks ago so this Christmas is going to hard for us, too ♥

By the looks of it, there's a few translations of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone offered on BookMooch.com - if you could send me an e-mail with your address at misuranATyahoo.com, I'd be happy to try and get one of them for you.

I'm curious what sizes, generally, you wear? :) I have a surprise I think you'd like but it wouldn't be very fun if it didn't fit.
