Elfster is a great place for organizing massive Secret Santas - and it would be perfect for this meme! The idea is that you create a profile and put your wishlist there. Then you join an exchange, and other members of the exchange will draw names, see what's on your wishlist, and grant you your wishes.
Kinda like what the Master List and the WishMaster was trying to do, only better ;)
I've set up the LJ Holiday Wishes Exchange, so go join, or give me your email address and I'll invite you.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE: (because I'm doing things a bit differently)
a) Either go to Elfster and create a profile, or leave your email address here and I'll invite you.
b) If you get the invite, click on the link. You should be given a choice if you want to accept or deny the exchange.
c) Once accepted, create your profile, and fill in your birthdate, address, wishlist, and so on and so forth. you can just put a link to your LJ wishlist, or recreate the wishlist.
d) You are NOT obligated to buy anyone anything. I'm not actually going to draw names here, that's just an option Elfster gives you. If the system does draw names automatically, it doesn't mean you have to buy them anything!
e) To see other people's wishlists, go to the LJ Holiday Wishes Exchange and look at the people in the Santas list. Click on their name, then click on their Full Profile. Besides their wishlist, you can also ask them questions.
Elfster was built for drawing names but I'm not going to do that for the LJ thing. It's just a place to store a directory of wishlists in one place. Just so you'd know. (I've had people emailing me saying they can't afford it, so this is for clarification's sake)
I know it's already a bit late, Christmas is very soon, but hey, better late than never ;)
