1. Book recommendations. I currently have nothing to do with myself until the end of February, so I'm looking for ways to fill in my time.

2. A Veronica Mars-esque messenger bag. Haha I know it's a longshot, but it's worth a try.

3. Mix CDs (or zipped mp3 folders - whatever you prefer). I love listening to music, and I love listening to mixes of people's favourite tunes.

4. Postcards and Christmas Cards from various places in the world.

5. Paid LJ Time, or extra user pictures.

6. A LJ header featuring Viggo Mortensen, Josh Holloway, Jason Dohring and Gale Harold.

7. Episodes of Roswell (any season, any episode), Alias (any season, any episode), or Firefly (any episode from 1.3 onwards) for me to download.

8. A slashy Sawyer/Jack icon to call my own.

9. Pretty, homemade things. Jewellery, scarves, soap, whatever :)

10. Photos and/or posters for me to print out to decorate my room with.

'Carter Beats The Devil' by Glen David Gold is a brilliant book and quite unlike anything else I've ever read.

#1 -I recommend that you read "Don't You Want Me?" by India Knight,"Playing James" by Sarah Mason, "The Negotiator" by Dee Henderson, "Marsha Mellow and Me" by Maria Beaumont, and all books from Sophie Kinsella are fun for sure.

Book recommendations? Sure. I can do that.

Abel Jones

This series is spectacularly written. It's a series of mysteries set in the US Civil War. The author has done an amazing amount of research, giving the books a wonderful feeling of honestly being there. The main character is very typical of the times; the author has been careful to not superimpose 20th century ideas and morals on the people he's writing about.

This sometimes makes for statements jarring to our ears, and other times for statements deeply humorous. It's always well written, though.

Oh, and email me at i_am_stasia at yahoo dot com with your address and I'll send you a card.

4 Recs for #1

Book recs. I can definitely attempt some book recs.

1. The Long Night of Leo and Bree by Ellen Wittlinger - it's quite intense with the plotline (involves Leo and his mother's reactions to the murder of his sister/her daughter), but it's just... completely awesome. Even if the whole murder thing turns you off completely, it's worth a shot.
2. Boy Meets Boy by David Levithan - since you have some slashy interests listed, this should work. Happy gay teen romance. <3
3. Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis - they're just really good and they work if you're even remotely interested in fantasy stories.
4. Brokeback Mountain by Annie Proulx - once again with the slashy theme, and it's now been made into a movie. It can be crude at times, but it's painfully honest. Gay cowboys. (The book's available either by itself or in completely original form in "Close Range: Wyoming Stories" along with other shorts.)

Hope you can use them!
