Adding Tags To Your Post

Why Tag?
Tagging is a quick way for others to be able to find your wishlist by what sorts of wishes you've made, and also makes it easier for you to browse through wishes other people have made.

If you look at the main page of the community, you will see a "Links" section with "Wishlists By Categories". By adding tags you can make your wishlist accessible to others when they choose to browse the categories. All it takes is a few mouse clicks and you can add your wishlist too.


How to Tag
After you have submitted your wishlist and it has been approved, it will appear on the community. Once this has happened you can go back to your post and add tags.


Step 1

View your post through the "Comments" view. From there you should see the buttons for doing various things like editing your post, adding it to memories, adding tags, etc.



As shown above, the "tags' button is the second to last button. Click this.


Step 2

You will now see a screen with your post - scroll to the bottom until you find the following:



Select the tags that match the types of wishes you have in your wishlist. To select multiple tags, hold down the "Ctrl" key and click the desired categories.

Once you have chosen all of the tags you desire, simply click the "Save changes" button.


You're finished! Now your wishlist post will be added to all of the Categories you selected.

Requesting New Tags

If you are unable to find a tag that fits your wishes, please feel free to comment and make a suggestion, we'll try to accomadate your needs as soon as we can.

A lot of people don't put their addresses with their wishes, and I can understand and respect the many reasons why. And that's ok, really!

But. (there's always a but) But, I tend to grant more wishes that save me the extra step of acquiring said address...

An "Address Provided" tag would be most helpful.

Not stupid, although I honestly never thought of the latter before -- I think most people tag by username, as this is how their post appears, and real names may only included if a mailing address is. So I would go with username.

I'm from Sweden too and I just went with "Scandinavia" ^^

As pnr just said, I think previously Sweden was covered under "Scandanavia". Is this improper or incorrect? (I'm American, so I wouldn't know for sure.) If so, I have no problem changing it, but that's the way it's been done in years past.

well, if people want to just send stuff within the country it matters, since it would cost equally much to send something to Denmark for example, as it would be to send to US.
But then again I suppose it works with just Scandinavia since I suspect that tag won't overflow or something and it would be easy to find Sweden among the other posts.

well, it works. sweden is a part of scandinavia.

i didnt see it at first so i got confused there wasnt a sweden one, and scandinavia is a bunch of countries. but i tagged my post with it now :)

Yeah, I think originally that was done just to have more entries under the tag, versus having half a dozen tags with just a few entries each.

I will actually rename the "scandanavia" one as "region" instead, because it IS improperly listed as a country :)

I didn't find a tag I felt fitted my wish for help completing the design of a tattoo. "Art" feels a bit too much you know, more like paitings and posters and whatnot... and drawings/fanart doesn't feel appropiate either.
Not sure what new tag would work though...

Good point, I'm not sure how that would work either. It seems to be a bit specific to deserve its own tag. I would place it under both of those categories in the meantime though, and I'll send this comment along to the other mods and see if they have any suggestions if we could include a new category such as "body art" or something like that. I'll respond to your comment again if we do add it!

Awesome :D Yeah, I just don't want to say "go ahead and take it!" point blank because I didn't write the tutorial myself, but as long as you credit the original author I don't really see a problem in it.

Yup, you're allowed one. You don't have to tag items in the external wishlist (if it's an amazon wishlist, we have a tag FOR that actually), but I suppose if you wanted to you could. It's up to you!

When tagging on macbooks you have to hold down the open apple key (key with the apple on it) to highlight multiple tags, instead of the control key.

We don't allow editing to change wishes, but if you're under the limit you can add up to 10.

I accidentally click the !holiday wishes 2008 tag and now I can't remove it. how do I fix this?

Only mods can delete tags. Don't worry about it; we'll fix it for you.

Members can add tags but only mods can remove them -- don't worry, I've been going through once a day or so and taking them off, no big deal (half of the people are adding it anyway, heh.)

If you're just adding your address, that would be fine, although remember that this is a public forum and you're posting your address on the internet at your own risk.

Hi there! I'm posting from Switzerland and I noticed there was no country tag for it, so I thought I'd mention that ... I don't know if you have a policy on how many posts you need from a country to create a tag, but I thought I'd ask! Thanks. :)
